The standard lineup includes Small Batch Bourbon, Single Barrel Bourbon, Barrel Proof Bourbon, and Straight Rye. According to the company Press Release, Amaranth was age over 10 years and will be a one-time only release that will start hitting markets in late July. Like most eh Taylor amaranth releases, Amaranth Bourbon is Bottled-in-Bond. Furthermore, to be label Bottle-in-Bond, the whiskey must be the product of one distillation season and one distiller at a single distillery, aged in a federally bond warehouse under U.S. government supervision for at least four years, and it must be bottle at exactly 100 proof. “Grain of the Gods” Bourbon is the 7th limited release bottling from Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr Amaranth Bourbon For this release Buffalo Trace Distillery have used amaranth in place of rye in the mash bill. (Corn, amaranth and malt barley) and age the whiskey for 10 years before bottling at 50% abv / 100 PROOF. Amaranth is similar to wheat. But offers a complex taste with subtle flavors ranging from a nose of butterscotch. And spearmint, hence to a finish of pecans and dark berries.
But, Amaranth was originally cultivate by the Aztecs and with the name “the Grain of the Gods”, its high protein, and gluten free.
